Black Mountain, Rumford--Black Mountain of Maine may appear to be small, but once you compare it to other ski areas you'll see that the only thing small about it is the amount you'll pay to ski here! Our Alpine skiing and snowboarding area has a 1150-foot vertical drop, lit top-to-bottom for night skiing. The combined Upper and Lower Androscoggin trails make up a fabulous, "solid blue" intermediate run, almost a mile long!  http://www.skiblackmountain.org/index.html

Mt. Cranmore, North Conway--Conveniently located in North Conway, Mt. Cranmore offers winter fun for the entire family. With over 200 skiable acres and a summit elevation of 2000 feet, Cranmore has trails for all levels of skiers.  1-800-SUN-N-SKI.  http://www.cranmore.com/winter/

Cross-Country Skiing

Five Field Farms, Bridgton--Cross-country skiing has been part of Five Fields Farm for a decade. Our apple operation is smaller now and we are able to share our location with others in the winter season. An elevation of 850 feet helps put us on the right side of the "snow line". There are no guarantees, but when it snows in the foothills of the White Mountains, we usually have to shovel it.  Trails are largely one way, with bi-directional skiing only where absolutely necessary. Guidance and terrain is available to start the inexperienced, and the trail system is designed such that new skiers will rapidly be able to access all portions. 207-647-2425.  http://www.fivefieldsski.com/xc_skiing.htm
