Robin Hurst Jensen Benefit Dinner

Be sure to attend the Benefit Dinner for Robin Jensen this Saturday, January 14th. The event will be at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Route 5 in Fryeburg. Pasta will be served between 5 and 7 pm and there will be salad, bread, desserts and beverages. $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

Robin is recovering from recent cancer surgery and during her recovery period, she has been unable to work and is in need of help with her medical and household bills. In addition to being a member of the Fryeburg Rescue Service, Robin is the daughter of Lovell resident and town columnist, Ethel Hurst. The Stow Corner Store is making the pasta sauce (with and without meat) and there will be a 50/50 raffle as well as a Silent Auction with a great collection of items donated by local businesses.

If you can't make the dinner, donations may be made in Robin's name to: Key Bank, 627 Main Street, Fryeburg, ME 04037.

And remember, you will be home in plenty of time for the Broncos-Patriots game at 8pm!

...Election Day is Tuesday, November 8th and will be held at the Town Office in Center Lovell. The polls will be open from 8 am to 8 pm. There are several ballot questions that cover when residents can register to vote, that would allow slots at various racetracks, the construction of a casino in Lewiston and a Constitutional Amendment changing the dates for Congressional redistricting. For more detailed information, please visit the League of Women Voters of Maine web site. Remember to vote early (but not often)!...

...Please remember to attend the Veteran's Day ceremony at the Lovell Village Memorial at 12:15 pm on Friday, November 11th. Immediately after the ceremony, the public is invited to attend a free lunch courtesy of the VFW at their hall on Smarts Hill Road...

...Nutritionist Dona Forke will be at the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library on Thursday, Nov. 10th at 1 pm showing how herbs and spices can be used in a variety of meals. Dona works for Hannaford and there will be samples to try. Call the library at 925-3177 for more information...

...This Saturday, August 20th, is the 36th Annual Arts and Artisan Fair. This is the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library's premier fundraiser and is always well-attended. Held at the New Suncook School, there will be over 60 artisans displaying their craft for the public to buy. There will also be a used book fair as well as food, drink and desserts. And don't forget to purchase some raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes donated by the artists...

...Don't forget Saturday's Annual Chicken BBQ at the Center Lovell Firehouse. The Lovell Volunteer Fire Department will be cooking up 700 dinners of chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, corn on the cob, rolls, beverage and dessert. All for $8.50! You can eat at the firehouse or bring your dinner home. Come support the Department and have a great time!...

The Lovell Brick Church for the Performing Arts will host the Mango Groove Steel Drum Band on Thursday, August 24th. Percussion instruments are the order of the evening and the Church will be rocking!. It all starts at 7:30 pm...

...Fresh at home recuperating from a heart attack! It is important for women not to ignore symptoms that you may not attribute to the heart. My initial diagnosis was "acid reflux". I am very appreciative to the EMT's and the staff at Damariscotta hospital which prepared me for my trip to the Maine Medical Center in Portland. Dr. Thomas Ryan cleaned the artery and he gave a guarantee of 20 more years!...

...Monday, May 30th, is Memorial Day and the Fryeburg/Lovell Memorial Post #6783 VFW invite everyone to a service at the Lovell Village Memorial at 10:30. Following the Lovell service, post members will travel to Fryeburg to participate in the annual Memorial Day parade. Please take the time to remember our fallen heroes...
