There are plenty of other holiday gifts and decorations available, as well as a treasure table and some delicious food for lunch. Don't forget to purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win a quilt and a holiday basket...

...Stop by any of the local stores and library and pick-up a request card on the SAD 72 GIVING TREE. Just pick a card, purchase the requested gift and return it to the original store. The gifts are given to children and needy families in our area. Bring a smile to a face this Christmas season!...

...The Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library invites everyone to meet Lovell resident Roger Williams this Saturday, November 13th, at 3 pm. Roger will be honored for his many years of working on the library's Building Committee and his wonderful Magical Tree House contribution to the addition. So stop by the library, say hi to Roger and see some of his other works. Refreshments will be served...

...Stop by the Center Lovell Fire House this Sunday between 12-2 to taste some of the area's best Chili in the Third Annual Battle of The Bowls. There will be two different categories, the People's Choice and the Judges' Favorites. All funds raised are for the Lovell Friends Helping Friends program which helps needy citizens with Emergency Fuel Assistance. Price for entry is only $6 for adults and $3 for children...

...The local gardener's group will be meeting on Thursday, November 18th at noon. Bring your own lunch and meet others who love to garden. The topic will be the Longevity of Garden Produce Canned from the Garden. The group welcomes everyone!...

As this is the PTA's biggest fundraiser, everyone supports is welcomed. There are always great things to bid on, including arts and crafts, services, decorations and games...

...Thursday, November 11th, is Veteran's Day and services will be held in East Conway (River Rd and Rt 113 @ 11am), in Fryeburg (Bradley Memorial Park @ 11:30 am) and in Lovell (Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library @ 12:15). After the Lovell service, all are invited to attend a public lunch as guests of the VFW at the hall on Smarts Hill Road...

...Plan to attend the Fryeburg Academy production of Once Upon a Mattress on either November 12th, 13th or 14th. The musical is based on the story of The Princess and the Pea, a search for the perfect princess. Tickets for adults are $8.50 and $6 for seniors and students. Details here...

He will be discussing his book Portland Neck: The Hanging of Thomas Bird which is the story of Thomas Bird who became the first ordered execution under the United States Constitution in June of 1790. While telling the story of the execution Jerry also paints a good portrait of life in Portland during that time period. This Tuesday, October 19th at 7 pm...

Best dinner value in town is tonight's Harvest Supper at the Lovell UCC. New England corned beef and cabbage dinner with fresh vegetables. Plus home-made dessert. All for $8 and $4 for children 12 and under.

There will be a benefit supper and Chinese auction for Lisa A. Graves at Lovell's VFW hall next Saturday, September 18th from 5 to 7 pm. Lisa has no medical insurance and is currently receiving treatment in Portland. She can use all the help possible. The menu is beans, coleslaw, casseroles, hot dogs, desserts and drinks. $8 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and free for children four and under.

A group of local residents pooled their resources and purchased nine 'Civil War Era' letters written by Lovell resident Harriet Dresser and donated them to the Lovell Historical Society. This collection of letters to her son, who was living in Pennsylvania at the time, is full of details about life in Lovell and her thoughts on the war and President Lincoln.
