There will be a benefit supper and Chinese auction for Lisa A. Graves at Lovell's VFW hall next Saturday, September 18th from 5 to 7 pm. Lisa has no medical insurance and is currently receiving treatment in Portland. She can use all the help possible. The menu is beans, coleslaw, casseroles, hot dogs, desserts and drinks. $8 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and free for children four and under.

A group of local residents pooled their resources and purchased nine 'Civil War Era' letters written by Lovell resident Harriet Dresser and donated them to the Lovell Historical Society. This collection of letters to her son, who was living in Pennsylvania at the time, is full of details about life in Lovell and her thoughts on the war and President Lincoln. Full details available at the Historical Society.
