First Wood Pile of 2011

It always seems that splitting wood by hand is much easier when it is very cold. And that holds true for even the big pieces, knots and all. So even though temps were low and the wind was beginning to pick-up, staying warm was not an issue. With all of the lifting and moving wood around, you soon feel comfortable. And if you overdress, you might start sweating. A great way to get some exercise and some fresh air. As you can see in one photo, there's plenty more wood to split.

No one would ever mistake me for a Paul Bunyan but there is a new exhibit at Fryeburg Academy's Palmina F. & Stephen S. Pace Galleries of Art that looks like a good one. LOGGING IN MAINE...THEN AND NOW is a cooperative Exhibition between the Rangeley Lakes Region Logging Museum and the Maine Museum of Photographic Arts. It will be at the Gallery until March 4th.
