Anyone who has ever attended a local event at the Historical Society, the Chili Competition or a bake sale the UCC, knows first-hand the quality of the bakers living in Lovell. From chocolate chip cookies to peanut butter squares to elaborate cakes and pies, the treats are not only visually appealing but are delicious.
This Sunday, February 14th, is not only Valentine’s Day but from 2-4 pm the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library will be hosting the 16th Annual Taste of Lovell. What started out as ‘Death by Chocolate’ in the beginning has now evolved into a collection of appetizers, fruits and desserts that visitors can sample and then vote on their favorite entry. There are five servings for $5 and ten servings for $8. Takeout boxes are available! Voting for your favorite dish is encouraged and the winning baker will receive an autographed Stephen King book. All proceeds benefit the library!
And to help set the mood, Elizabeth Roth will be playing music. Known as the Harp Lady, Elizabeth will be entertaining everyone with classical instrumental harp selections as well as some seafaring songs and Broadway tunes. I have known Elizabeth for many years in her other job, a real estate appraiser (a very good one in case you are in need of one), but I have never heard her play the harp so I am looking forward to it. A great way to spend an afternoon!
