The Tree Revisited

alt tag

Thanks to Tom McLaughlin for an informative column on Rod Blood, Merton Blood and the Lovell Village Tree! Back in September's KezarLife posting A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.., there was quite a bit of feedback received and questions asked. It seems that everyone has an opinion on this intricate work of art.

Everyday I look out my office window and see the tree. Although the park is a good spot for the tree, I am still not certain that the current location is the best. Perhaps set back a bit further away from the Memorial, the Minuteman statue and the flag.

Here's a link to the full story on Tom's blog.

2018 Boston Red Sox Schedule Magnets

alt tag

Who cares if the fourth Nor'easter is heading our way! Opening day for the 2018 MLB season starts on March 29th. Spring training is almost over and all is right with the world. Have the Sox make enough moves to keep up with the power-backed Bronx Bombers? If you read the New York tabloids, probably not. Let's give the Yanks the World Series trophy right now! The Blue Jays are always tough and O's suddenly seem to have a strong pitching rotation.

If you ask me, the World Champion Houston Astros are just as strong and look to be the favorites to repeat.

As always, the schedules will be available in my office and all of the local stores. Don't hesitate to send me an email (stan@fairpoint.net) or call me if you would like me to send one via USPS.

2018 Lovell Town Meeting

More than 60 people were in attendance at Lovell's Annual Town Meeting morning, a higher number than recent years. There were 87 articles voted on. As always, the first order of business was to nominate and elect Jonathan Bliss as the meeting's moderator. Robert Drew was reelected to a three-year term as Selectman. Several vacancies on the [...]

The End of the 'No Questions Asked' Return Policy

alt tag

Way back in January 2014, I posted about my very happy, one and only experience with L.L. Bean's famous 100% liberal return policy (KezarLife post here) Even though I am not a big customer of Bean's products, you buy with the knowledge that it will last for a very long time. So even though you might pay more for a similar item than at another store, you are getting the [...]

Here we are, in the middle of December, and I am sure that you still have lots of presents to buy. And then you start planning a quick trip to North Conway or to South Portland. Sometimes we overlook all of the wonderful merchants, artists and non-profits that we have living in and around Lovell.  Here are some [...]

How Do You Move A Barn?

alt tag

Western Maine is blessed to have so many skilled craft people living and working here and that they earn enough to make a living. Some of these crafts are not your everyday type of jobs. As many know, whenever I see a 'Fox & Sons' sign on the road, I like to pull over and be a 'sidewalk supervisor'. To see just a handful of people work at [...]
