Something tells me that as we get closer to turning the page from February to March, that this year's ice-out (an accepted definition is when one can travel the entire body of water unimpeded) might be earlier than usual.

This winter's inconsistent weather has taken away one of my favorite activities--cross-country skiing and/or walking with the dogs on Kezar Lake. Although I see a few ice shacks on Kezar, there are far fewer than in other years. I know that there are charts available to let you know how much weight a certain thickness of ice can sustain, [...]
