Evening Swims

Although the recent return to hot and humid weather makes for uncomfortable work days, the heat does a great job of warming the lake so that a 7:00 pm swim is refreshing. Nothing beats a jump off the dock. And that's the preferred method because if you choose to be timid and walk in from the beach, it might take a bit of time to adjust to the water temperature.

Last night included a little back and forth between our two dogs and five loons. The loons were halfway between the island which we swim around and our dock. The dogs were very interested in the guests and had to be reminded constantly not to interfere. However, the loons would make their noise and the dogs would start swimming to them. Before the dogs were called off, the loons would move a short distance away. Once the dogs stopped approaching, the loons would reverse course and then knowing that they had full advantage would seemingly taunt the dogs once again. Of course, the dogs just couldn't resist. This whole give and take lasted about eight to ten minutes. The loons finally went their own way and we continued on our swim around the island.

Not only refreshing but great entertainment!

Kezar ... I can feel it's refreshing water as I mentally dive in from our dock. I can hear the loons ... calling in the distance. Holding that memory close - and hoping I can keep it alive until next summer when I return.... Thanks for the entry.... :)

Nothing better than the evening swims but the calendar page turned and the lake is too chilly for me!
