An impressive 85 ballots were cast at today's Lovell's Chili Challenge. After paying their $6 entry fee, guests were able to enjoy 15 different chili recipes, plus a variety of chips, cornbread, cookies and ice cream. Here's a sample of the various chili dishes that I tasted: black bean chicken, a dish with mushrooms, olives and cocoa, one with bison and another with venison. Delicious!
Congratulations to Lovell residents Tom Rose for winning first place in the Judges Category and to the Father/Daughter team of Albert & Rondi Stearns for capturing first place in the Peoples Category.
Most importantly, I am impressed that the day raised $1,000 for Lovell Friends Helping Friends. If you would like to send a contribution to this fund which helps those in need for emergency fuel assistance, you may send a check to: Town of Lovell, Friends Helping Friends, PO Box 236, Center Lovell, ME 04016. A big Thank You to Mark Moulton and the crew at the Center Lovell Firehouse for hosting the Competition.
