A record total of 87 runners & walkers crossed the finish line at the 5th Annual Gasping Gobbler. The weather was perfect for the participants as Silas Eastman finished first overall with a time of 16:50 and Laura Pulito was the first female runner with a time of 23:03. Martha Grzyb was the first walker with a time of 37:48. Molly Ockett Middle School won the Middle School team award, the Gould Academy won the High School division and the Eastman family of Chatham, NH won the Family Award. And Kathy Burnell won a turkey for winning the Middle of the Pack award. Turkeys were also won by the Male and Female winners as well as the top walker. Lots of great random prizes donated by local businesses were won. Fryeburg Academy cross-country coach Bill Reilly was the clear-cut winner of the unofficial Ugliest Running Outfit award.

A big thanks to Michael Mendonca, Sarah Rose, Linda Dunlea and to all of the volunteers who help to make the event happen. And special thanks to Marc and Ann Kurnick for their wonderful collection of food enjoyed by all at the VFW hall.
