A Fun Evening at Hadlock Field

Had a good time last night at Hadlock Field in Portland to watch the Sea Dogs play the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (an affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays). It was a little chilly for late June but it was a good size crowd that came to cheer their local team. We got to the ballpark about an hour before game time and watched some infield practice as well as the ground crew getting the field ready for play. The Sea Dogs started the game strong, allowed the Fisher Cats to tie the game but pulled it out to win 10-6.

The great thing about minor league baseball is that you don't need to know every player and whether they are on their way up or down. It is pure baseball where the players are hustling and trying to make a name for themselves. They are not yet pampered and overpaid. It is a great place to go at an affordable price ($5 seats!), very family friendly and still have access to ballpark food. And the ballpark has two microbrew concession stands with a large selection!

Yes, it's real baseball. I try to get to a couple of games every year.
