Upcoming Local Road Races

What better way to start your Fourth of July holiday than to run Bridgton's 4 on the Fourth Road Race. This year's race will be the 35th edition and is limited to 2,000 runners. The scenic course has its fair share of hills and winds its way through several rural neighborhoods. If you are not running, it is a great race to be a spectator. You can watch the start of the race and then walk over to the finish line. I've run this race a few times over the years but I seize the opportunity to distribute Lovell 5k entry forms to this captured audience. I'm usually stationed past the finish line towards the school parking lot.

Two days later, on Wednesday July 6th, is Harrison's 5k Run by the Lake. This event starts at 7 pm and is an out and back course along the northern shore of Long Lake. According to director Tammy Anderson, each finisher will receive their very own Whoopee Pie. Proceeds benefit Harrison Recreation Department. Sign-up before the race at the Harrison Town Office starting at 5 pm. Contact Tammy at tammyanderson@roadrunner.com. As I will be working the finish line, say hi as I pull your number off!

And don't forget my personal favorite, Lovell's Old Home Days 5k. Race starts at 9:45 am on Saturday July 16th and kicks off the day's activities. More info at Lovell5k.com.
