One of Center Lovell's prettiest roads is Old Stage (aka 5A). No matter which direction you are heading, you always end up at Route 5. The southern end is anchored by the Historical Society with the Post Office and the former Dutton office at the opposite end. In addition to a wonderful variety of older farmhouses and new homes, a ride along Old Stage always provides stunning views of Lovell, Baldface and the White Mountains. As we approach foliage season, it is ok to stop and enjoy the view.
One of Lovell's newest businesses, Four Cedars Antiques, is at the corner of Old Stage and Swain Road. Tucked into the woods and between beautiful stone walls, is a small white building with green shutters that contains a great collection of folk art, architectural pieces, country furniture, vintage garden accessories and more. I must say, the way everything is displayed, it is almost like walking into a museum.
Owner Shoo Hale opened Four Cedars this June and is open on weekends from 10-5. Although she plans on having the store open through the fall season, it might be best to call her at 207-925-1017 to be sure.
After visiting the store, you are invited to walk the grounds of the well-landscaped Four Cedar Farm! Be sure to enjoy this special part of Lovell!
