I'm often asked what does one do in the middle of a cold, long winter in rural western Maine. You sometimes get the feeling that people believe everything shuts down until ice-out on the lake.
Here is one way to enjoy a winter evening with good food and information about exotic places. The Appalachian Mountain Club has kicked off the 2014 International Dinner and Adventure Series. This is the 24th year of Wednesday night dinners where the Pinkham Notch chefs craft a unique four-course menu related to that evening's country. The meal is followed by a presentation, with photos, detailing a visit to a far-away country. Diners are invited to BYOB!
Dinners are $23 for AMC members and $28 for non-members. The programs are free and open to the public.
Here is a special AMC International Dinner vacation package which includes:
- The four-course dinner
- The evening presentation
- An overnight room
- Morning breakfast
- A Thursday Skiing or Tubing package at Great Glen Trails!
- All for $49. Call 603-466-2727 Monday-Saturday between 9 & 5 and mention the International Dinner Series Special.
