We are rapidly approaching February 9th, 2014. That will mark one year since the early morning fire destroyed the historic Kimball & Walker General Store building in Lovell Village. It is difficult to recall the emotions in the days following the fire and although only one year has passed, it often seems like ten years.
Between dealing with insurance companies and sorting things out with the Maine Real Estate Commission, I wasn't quite sure where we were headed. Rosie's Lovell Village Store's back booth became our temporary meeting room and mail drop and then Sharon Hatch offered the use of two large rooms in her wonderful brick farmhouse at 219 Main Street. Current clients and real estate competitors all were cooperative and understanding.
Stephen Goldsmith, one of my fellow owners at the Lovell Village Condo Association, guided us through the complex legal and insurance mazes in an efficient manner. On June 20th, 2013 the land was sold to Menotomy Consulting and Development, Inc. of Sweden. President John P. Smith saw an opportunity to build a structure that would be appropriate for the Village setting. A year ago, I didn't have a desk or telephone to work with and didn't know where 2013 was headed. I am astonished and proud to say that last year, Kezar Realty had our largest number of transactions ever and our Vacation Rental bookings continued to grow. Our agents, especially Jeanne Bonner, didn't miss a beat and worked hard to put it all back together.
Our official move-in date at the new building was November 1st and we are still working on putting the finishing touches on our office space. As 2014 unfolds, please stop in and visit our office and be sure to let others know that there is a real nice space next door that is also available. We would love to have a neighbor!
