Looking forward to reading the upcoming issue of Yankee Magazine' s Best of New England where the editors selected Harvest Gold Gallery as Maine's Best Gallery! Located in Center Lovell for almost 20 years, Bill and Lynda have a large showroom where they showcase not only their own jewelry but the fine arts and crafts of over 200 artists.
Be sure to make a trip to Lovell soon to visit the Gallery at 1082 Main Street. Ring the bell at the front door, step inside and explore. I am sure that you will find something that's perfect for you. Bill and Lynda can be reached at 207-925-6502 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
No matter how bad the April weather has been, here are two sure signs that pleasant Spring weather will soon be here. And it seems to happen simultaneously every year. First the daffodils push up through the cold ground and then suddenly the boat trailers at the Kezar Lake Marina have sprouted. Won't be long before the docks are back in the water!
When asked about this year's Kezar Lake ice-out date, my response has been to ask when was there ice-in? (Here is something interesting to read -- scientists are now collecting ice-in dates) I know I saw many people ice-fishing on the lake this year and I talked to a number of people who did go out and Jeff's Bait Shop in Center Lovell said he ended up with a good year, but I never had a desire to venture out there this year. Pretty much, I like to leave my swimming to the summer months.
The widely-accepted definition of ice-out is when one can navigate from one end of a body of water to the other end without interruption. As you can see from the above picture taken this afternoon at the north end of the lake, there is still ice. And with a cold spell coming over the next few days, it might not be going away all that quickly!Click here for a somewhat dated collection of ice-out dates in New England. Info for Kezar Lake is on page 13.
