2017 New England Patriots' Magnetic Schedule

alt tag

To date, the perennial Super Bowl favorite, the New England Patriots, have played three pre-season games. As we know, the record doesn't mean a thing until the real games start in early September. But their biggest loss so far this year may be the season-ending injury suffered by star receiver Julian Edelman. But I am sure that the Head Coach Bill Belichick is already scheming on adjustments. That's why they play the games as teams look quite different in December and January than they do in September.

The 2017 New England Patriots' Magnetic Football Schedule has arrived at Kezar Realty. As always, the schedules will be available in local stores. If you can't make it to Lovell, feel free to drop me an email at stan@fairpoint.net and I will send one your way.

Super Saturday is Coming!!!

August in Lovell always starts with a bang. The Dave Mason Tennis Tournament is the first weekend of the month. Next comes the annual Tour de Lovell, a popular bike tour through the town including the many hills up in the north end. But for more than 40 years, the third weekend of August means the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library's Arts and Artisans [...]

In Jordan's Honor

In Jordan’s Honor

I tend not to get too personal in these pages. Maybe a couple of posts about various trips or family updates but, for the most part, I like to keep things focused on Lovell and Kezar Lake. However, this past weekend was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. We have always been proud of our son Benjamin, but over the last few [...]

Celebrate Demme -- 'Stop Making Sense'

alt tag

Jonathan Demme, noted producer, director and screenwriter, passed away on April 26th. To celebrate the life of Mr. Demme, art house theaters across the country will screen his ground-breaking 1984 documentary, 'Stop Making Sense'.

The town of Lovell, where Jonathan spent many years at the family's summer residence, will participate in the celebration by screening his film outdoors at the historic Hewn Oaks. Show time is 8:30. Seating is casual so bring your own blankets and chairs as well as any refreshments (and maybe some bug spray).

Special thanks to the Fryeburg Academy Film Workshop, Hewnoaks Art Colony and Palm Pictures Entertainment. For more information visit celebratedemme.com

2017 Memorial Day Ceremony

IMG_3211

The rain contributed to a small turnout at today's Memorial Day Ceremony at the Lovell Village Monument. Thank you very much to the Lovell/Fryeburg VFW Post No. 6783 for conducting the service. Please do not forget that Memorial Day is observed so that we can remember all the men and women who died in active military service. Next time you [...]

2017 Kezar Lake Ice-Out

alt tag

When ice-out actually occurs is always debated but the State of Maine uses the following definition: "...we will consider “ice-out” to be when you can navigate unimpeded from one end of the water body to the other. There may still be ice in coves or along the shoreline in some areas but when a person can traverse the entire water body without being stopped by ice floes, we will consider the ice to be out.

John Bacchiocchi, Lovell's resident ice-out expert, has declared Wednesday, April 26th, to be 2017's Ice-Out date!

Click here to see Ice-Out dates for various lakes around the state. Kezar Lake should appear on it soon.

Furtado Benefit Dinner

Come on out this Saturday afternoon to the Center Lovell Firehouse for a Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings. All proceeds and donations will go directly to Karl and Joyce Furtado. Joyce has had an extended hospital stay spanning several months and this has led to some difficult times for the family. This has also had an impact on Karl's Auto Repair business. Karl is a member of the Lovell Fire Department, the Masonic Lodge and the family attends the Lovell UCC.

So, do stop by this Saturday from 4-7 pm. Dinner is $10 per person (a reduced price for children), stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, vegetables, salad, dinner rolls, coffee and a variety of delicious desserts. There will be a 50/50 raffle and lots of great auction items. The long winter is over (I know there is snow still on the ground but the calendar says SPRING) and it stays lighter longer.

Please don't hesitate to call me (207-925-1500) or email me (stan@fairpoint.net) if you are unable to attend but would still like to make a donation.

What a great opportunity to not only spend time with friends and neighbors but to help a real nice Lovell family!

What better time to get prepared for the upcoming baseball season than in the middle of a heavy snow storm? Instead of looking out the window at the snow piling up, think about being at the ball park with the green grass, blue skies, warm temps, cold beers and hot [...]
