No question it is cold outside (we go from mid-50's to mid-teens over the past few days) but Mother Nature has not been helping the ski slopes. Here's a picture of Shawnee Peak from the Moose Pond Causeway. They are working around the clock making snow and they are hoping to be open by this Friday. It does take a tremendous amount of water [...]

Charlotte Hobbs & Flatbreads
Everyone had a great time at Tuesday's Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library's Annual Flatbreads night in North Conway. As always, the turnout was strong and there was an extensive collection of auction items, including a Stephen King autographed book. Flatbreads has a generous program where each Tuesday night a local non-profit receives [...]

Fryeburg Fair
Around here, it doesn't really matter if you like the Fryeburg Fair or not. It has an impact on everyone. There are a few businesses that shut down for the week because they are working at the Fair. And unless you want to be sitting in a long line of traffic, you need to be familiar with the back roads.
But you don't mind putting up with all of that because the [...]

Pie Tree Orchard
Although a May frost did do damage to many of the region's trees, this is still a good time to go out and pick your own apples. One of our favorite places is Pietree Orchard in Sweden where there are numerous varieties to choose from and if you don't feel like doing your own picking, the new farm stand has everything ready to go. In [...]
